Self Reflection While Writing Resume
Self Reflection While Writing ResumeOne of the most common questions I receive from applicants and potential employers who are applying for jobs in the first place is: 'How do I Self Reflect While Writing Resume' ?? Well... I've been there myself! In fact, I wrote my first resume this way as well.I've learned that as soon as you start composing a resume, it's like a battle to get the words out on the page and make them all fit together. That's why so many resumes seem so fuzzy and unfocused. Why do they have spelling mistakes, misspellings, and one-word sentences? It's because the writer, whether the applicant or the employer, can't think of the right words to describe themselves and their qualifications when they write. So what might cause this problem? What might be preventing you from getting that job you wanted? Well, just about anything. Perhaps, it's your vision... a dream that might not pan out, or your long list of qualifications that might scare off potential employers.Either way, the dream scenario of a good job doesn't usually pan out. That's why you need to be extra careful when you're planning your resume and interviewing for a job. You want to make sure it's nothing like your dream scenario. What might make it great for you might make it a little too 'abrasive' for a potential employer. One of the biggest things you can do to help yourself when composing your resume is to take some time and reflect. Whether it's writing a blog or sharing your thoughts with a friend, doing something to take some of the pressure off of yourself to sit down and compose an awesome resume. After all, if you're stressed out trying to write your resume, who is going to stop you? So what are other ways you can go about taking some stress off yourself when it comes to your resume? Here are a few...Whatever type of self-reflection you decide to engage in, be sure to give yourself some time. Don't pressure yourself. If it takes you some time to write your resume, then so be it. Just be sure that you don't overdo it.Whether you are sending out resumes, writing your own, or you are just simply taking some time to think about yourself and your situation, take some time to reflect on your goals and dreams. I promise you, it'll show in your resume!
